WHOA! Yesterday’s run was no joke. It may have been freezing rain and pretty low temps (certainly not the temps of our FJ team member Vanessa had in North Dakota) and it may have been totally AWESOME! It was like every incredible runner was out hitting their run. I was so inspired.
I had to do a 12 minute run with a 3 minute walk three times and learned that the white paint in the loop in Central Park is FAR more slippery than the regular road. I started at 96th street, walked 15 minutes as a warm up and then started my run. I ran down to 57th street on the Central Park loop and went East. I ran back up to 72nd street and went back across West. When I hit 81st street I had three minutes left of my last run and I hit an uphill and BOOM it was like the entire road turned to ice. Everyone started walking down the hill (more like almost sliding) and I started slipping up the hill, so I called it a day. When I left the park I thought I could walk home, but I literally almost killed myself sliding all over. Everyone was walking in the street. It was crazy, I had never seen anything like it.
All in all, the run was great and I am getting more and more pumped about my half in a few months and getting even more excited about my training for the half iron man… 2015 full Ironman??? One thing at a time.
