First Race, EVER.

YIKES!  So, it’s New Years Eve and I’m not out at some 20’s themed party with my best friend and her boy friend, I’m not out at the pub where my husband and I met and worked together over 12 years ago, I’m not even at a friend’s dinner party getting ready to toast in less than an hour.  I’m home – happily – getting everything together for tomorrow.

What’s tomorrow you might ask? Tomorrow is the very first running race I have ever taken part in as a runner.  Holy shit I am excited!  I mean, January 1 in the year 2013 – the year that I am changing my life, launching a website to hopefully help others do the same and I’m starting it by not only facing a fear of running, but starting it healthy and truly happy.  Starting the year with a challenge and overcoming that challenge all before 11AM.  I think that is pretty effing cool.

So, I will take my new Dri-Fit Nike apparel  – which I will certainly review post run -, gloves, hat, and new shoes I bought last week at Jack Rabbit Sports and train my butt down to the Intrepid to take part in the Commitment Day run.

I’m crazy lucky that I have one of my absolute favorite fitness partners in crime (FPC) Maggie from Fat Bottom Slim -an incredible fitness blog you all NEED to check out if you don’t already know – to run with me and support me.

So, tomorrow, I will let you know how it all goes.

I hope that whatever you are doing this evening, you are doing it with a smile on your face, love in your heart and that you’re feeling the same excitement coursing through your veins as I am.

Happy New Year!

xx

About Julia

Julia
Is a successful NYC based makeup artist - you can see her work all over TV, in top magazines all over the world and she has been featured in the New York Times, Prevention Magazine and numerous other publications, she is the former beauty editor for Bloginity and owns a small boutique beauty business called Brush Beauty. She has had a few careers ranging from construction management to radio and everything in between, however, the constant passion in her life was always fitness. Even when she lost her way from it, she was always constantly motivated by athletes and anything movement oriented around her. She is the type of person who only gets star struck by people like Gabby Douglas, Matt Long, Pat Riley or Kerri Walsh and the thought of meeting any of them puts her stomach in little girly teenage knots. Favorite workouts: Bootcamps, Spinning, swimming and lifting alone with my headphone on.
