Kick Off…

There comes a point in one’s life where you decide to make a change.  Quite often you come to the tip of wanting the change, but then turn around and run. Run because you’re scared, run because you’re not ready, run because it’s confusing and, possibly, run because it hurts too much.

I’ve been there, I’ve been through each of these tries to change.  I’ve run to the edge and even looked down, but turned away running – sometimes screaming.  Or, even worse, I’ve gone to the edge and put in effort just to turn myself away a few weeks later.

It is difficult, bettering yourself.  That means you may actually have to start liking who you are – all of who you are – and that is really not so easy.  Talking to a friend last night, we discussed that it is scary to shed the pounds because they become such an easy shield to hide any and all emotions.  They become the perfect reason to not work out, to not eat well, to not go to this or that event… basically, the perfect place to mask self pity and self loathing and call it something else.

Facing your own fears becomes harder than running from them at times… at first.  But, let me tell you, that all changes once you decide to face your challenges head on.

It got to a point where I was used to the feeling of disappointing myself and it came to be my normal daily feeling that I just lived with.  I started telling myself that I know I won’t finish this if I start it.  But, then everything changed.

I stopped saying things like “I want to be skinny” or “I will never eat (fill in the blank) again” because that shit just doesn’t work.  There is nothing fast or impulsive about making a lifestyle change and the second you actually realize this and let it resonate, you will see a change.

So, before you embark on changing your life with me, I want you to try and make yourself a promise, it’s the same promise I made myself.  I just want you to think about today, simply, just today.  If you can take a walk or do one of these workouts with me, JUST TODAY, then you’ve started something great.  Then, maybe we can talk about tomorrow tomorrow.  But, today, I am just asking if you can take away one un-nutritious food from your diet and do one activity that makes you sweat a little.  That’s all.

And, we can check in tomorrow which, again, is just another day.
