Why Foundations?

So, for me, I started this website because all I ever want is to be a resource for someone.  I want someone who isn’t feeling amazing about themselves or who isn’t happy in their body, to be able to turn somewhere and be inspired, to be able to find the knowledge that they are looking for, to be able to feel good.  And, if I can help even one person feel better then I am truly a happy person.

I get it, I’m not always happy in my body, I’ve been to every place in the fitness and diet world, but I have finally found a way to fall back in love with health, fitness and my living life in a healthy manner… and it is a journey

I thought really long and hard about what truly made me have the most issues when I was starting to get back into shape and then it kind of came to me out of nowhere… it was not knowing.  It is something that still really troubles me sometimes.  Not knowing what to do when you walk into a class, not knowing how to use a machine, what ingredients to use for a simple recipe or not knowing how to do a true pushup… these are all things that have stopped me in my tracks when trying to work out.  So, I decided to show all of this… on film and in classes.

Foundations – the name of this web and class series -has two components.  The first are the videos which will launch the second week of June. FOUR WEEK SERIES FOR4 copy The videos will take a particular class, fitness move, food ingredient or even food label and break it down so that you can understand each component.  For example, the first video will be with Flywheel Sports and will go over exactly what to expect when you step into a spin class.  It will go over bike set up, how to either clip into your bike or slip into the pedal and the positions used in a normal spin class. The second component to the Foundations will be beginner class series.  I’m going to be working with several gyms, starting in New York and expanding by the year’s end to other cities, to have 2-4 week beginner series classes (classes meet once/week).  The first class will go over the fundamentals of the class and there will be a mini 30 minute class.  The following classes progress until your last class which will be a full length class, slightly modified for whoever may need.  This series will also include two nutrition sessions.  The first class series starts June 23rd with Flywheel Sports. I really understand how it feels to walk into a gym or a class for the first time and feel like an outsider. Or to really want to try something, but have the anxiety of not knowing how to do it stop me.  I want to give a safe and comfortable option to people who feel or have felt the same way.  With the videos, I want people to be able to watch and say ‘I can totally do that’ and then go try it.  And with the classes, I just want to give a comfortable environment for anyone who has had the little voice inside their head that wants to get healthy but is nervous about trying it.  I’ve totally been there, I get it!

So, as I mentioned, we start our class series with Flywheel in a few weeks.  So, if you or anyone you know have ever wanted to try spinning, this is an incredible way to learn from the best, really understand the fundamentals and find a love for spinning.

I am so excited about all of this, the videos, the classes, it is going to be incredible and I’ll be learning right there with you!!!

Can’t wait!

xx

Julia
Is a successful NYC based makeup artist - you can see her work all over TV, in top magazines all over the world and she has been featured in the New York Times, Prevention Magazine and numerous other publications, she is the former beauty editor for Bloginity and owns a small boutique beauty business called Brush Beauty. She has had a few careers ranging from construction management to radio and everything in between, however, the constant passion in her life was always fitness. Even when she lost her way from it, she was always constantly motivated by athletes and anything movement oriented around her. She is the type of person who only gets star struck by people like Gabby Douglas, Matt Long, Pat Riley or Kerri Walsh and the thought of meeting any of them puts her stomach in little girly teenage knots. Favorite workouts: Bootcamps, Spinning, swimming and lifting alone with my headphone on.
