Fit Journey is the brainchild of makeup artist and fitness enthusiast Julia Dalton-Brush. FJ was created to be a resource and a safe place for anyone lost and/or confused in their weight loss journey. Julia realized that with so many health resources out there, none of them really confronted the issue of weight loss is scary and confusing. Julia says
There are too many sites that just assume you know the basics. They assume you know how caloric input/output works. They assume that you know that creamed spinach isn’t actually a healthy option or that you are well versed in the very basics of working out and, for many of us, that’s just not true.
This is the pre-site to those sites. Though there are articles for everyone, Julia’s workout videos, her “de-mystifying workouts” series and her blog are really focused to the new or renewed athletes. We wanted to give people who may need a little push or need to see someone else going through it a place to call home. A community.
Our Team
Julia S. Dalton-Brush – CEO/Founder
Is a successful NYC based makeup artist – you can see her work all over TV, in top magazines all over the world and she has been featured in the New York Times, Prevention Magazine and numerous other publications, she is the former beauty editor for Bloginity and owns a small boutique beauty business called Brush Beauty. She has had a few careers ranging from construction management to radio and everything in between, however, the constant passion in her life was always fitness. Even when she lost her way from it, she was always constantly motivated by athletes and anything movement oriented around her. She is the type of person who only gets star struck by people like Gabby Douglas, Matt Long, Pat Riley or Kerri Walsh and the thought of meeting any of them puts her stomach in little girly teenage knots.
Favorite workouts: Bootcamps, Spinning, swimming and lifting alone with my headphone on.
Michelle Newman – VP of Business Development
Michelle was born and raised on Long Island, New York. After graduating from Binghamton University with a degree in Economics and Political Science, she moved to New York City and went to work on Wall Street. After four years at Goldman Sachs and eight years at Morgan Stanley, she took time off to travel before getting married and relocating to Phoenix, Arizona in February 2013 to live with her husband. Michelle’s love of fitness started when working long hours as a Wall Street Analyst. An early morning run was her favorite way to manage her stress and get some much needed alone time. Michelle has run various races including four half-marathons. She also has a love for spin, barre and pilates classes.
Michelle is thrilled to be a part of the Fit Journey team, where she combines her business skills with her love of fitness. Michelle will be checking in on Julia’s blog from time to time to keep you updated on her fitness adventures in her new city!
